The Painter
by
Will Davenport

Was Rembrandt ever in Hull? Read this to find out. After each chapter the book jumps from the 17th century and Rembrandt's adventures in Hull to the 21st century and Amy, a painter that stumbles over the diary of the woman that Rembrandt painted in Hull. At first she does not realize who the painter mentioned in the diary is, but when she does, she tries to find proof.

Very funny in parts - I nearly peed myself when I read the passage with Rembrandt's smelly shoe... Rembrandt's character was really well developed and very plausible.

Only 9 out of 10, because I thought the end was a bit rushed.
