It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life
by
Lance Armstrong
The title accurately describes the book, "It's not about the bike, my journey back to life." Being an autobiography of sorts I expected more about Lance and his views etc.—I had read Charles Barkley's book, I May Be Wrong But I Doubt It, which I LOVED!! as it gave insight into who he is. I expected to learn more about Armstrong in this book and while it did reveal some aspects, it lacked substance. I didn't feel I learned more about him than what I have learned from reading the paper. Sure he commented on his thoughts about cancer but it was minimal.
One thing people should consider when reading this as well as books on other athletes is that you might find the athlete in question to be conceited and full of themselves but you have to understand that they have to be to get where they are/were; it's a part of their self-confidence and not necessarily a bad thing. Of course, some are a bit too full of themselves and haven't found that balance. :)
